Ok, so the last predictions didn't quite work out. Not sure why, but hey, this is a long event, so here's our next, slightly more serious, shot:
So the cuddly Texan didn't turn water carrier for Contador. Not massively suprising to see that Lance Armstrong (sample quote: "It's my f***ing jersey!") has set out to win. And at the time of writing we reckon he's got a good a chance as anyone, in fact better than most of the GC crowd, of winning.
Still, we do think that Contador will win it in the Alps. He's too good at the moment and whilst Lance is certainly having a stormer (and also maybe getting a little help from inside the Peloton), Contador is at the peak of his career.
Despite his occasionally abrasive demeanour, or more likely because, we think Cavendish with his mighty lead out train (Renshaw and Martin might just be the best and most selfless riders in the Tour), is going to get green.
We still expect (and hope!) it all to come down to the last mountains though, so we'll keep our fingers crossed that no one gets ahead before a decisive and bruising battle on the slopes of Ventoux.
Will Cavendish be able to drag himself over and get his longed for win in Paris? Will Armstrong be able to keep up with the best climbers in the world?
Our honest answer: Dunno.
Do we want to see them suffer? Of course!
