It may seem like small potatoes compared with the mighty Tour De France but 2009 sees the sixth running of the Tour of Britain.
This years race kicks off in Scunthorpe on the 12th September and finishes 8 days later in central London. This event which has gone from strength to strength will attract a top class field of 96 professional riders from across the globe. Now's your chance to get involved without a single pedal stroke.
Organisers British Cycling are looking for volunteers to help marshal the event, this is a great opportunity to be involved in one of Britain's most prestigious sporting events, if you're interested, click here.
We've just received a load of new Fox Clothing and as usual have busied ourselves going through it all seeing what we'd buy. Well, honestly, pretty much most of it - but standing out for us above all was the humble (and at 25 quid humbly priced) Fox Baseline.
A basic mountain bike top with a couple of nice technical features that elevate it above the norm made it stick for us.
Our model Joe proves that it admirably hides the most abnormal of bodies. It's a nice XC fit and almost looks like a normal tee, not being as baggy as many down hill wannabe mtb shirts out there. It's not meant to be worn with layers underneath, the high wicking and quick drying Baseline is a standalone product seems perfect for long hot days in the saddle (although we can't currently confirm this due to the semi biblical deluge outside).
Other (very) nice features include a terry wipe on the hem, a pocket for your MP3 and custom routing for the wiring and a decent zipped pocket on the back.
So yeah, in conclusion we like. If you can find somewhere warm to ride it all the better.
Life is tough in the bike industry so it was with heavy hearts that some of us got flown out to Switzerland last weekfor the launch of the 2010 Scott bikes range. It’s a tough job but somebody’s got to do it.
Well, you get to benefit from our hard work as we can bring you up to the minute news about what is shaping up to be a very exciting year from on of the most technologically driven bike manufacturers around.
The first thing that struck us was how much development across the entire range; many companies will focus all their efforts onto a few selected models but when you look closely at the rest of their range it turns out that there is a lot of new paint but very little genuinely new for the rest of the range.
Scott however are refreshingly different.

We've just seen the excellent video produced by Transport for London trying to address the rather uneasy (or downright dangerous depending on where you're sitting) relationship between cyclists and lorries.
We know it's filmed in London but this stuff is of concern to anybody who cycles (or drives a truck) in cities.
Hats off to TFL, this cycling safety video is actually very well made.
Not really words you expect to see together, 'cheap Shimano Ultegra' are they? It's proper race ready componentary really, ready for all but the most obsessive of weight weenies. Go check it out online, then go check out the sort of bikes you'd expect it to come equipped with.
A bit pricey... And next year (after more expected increases in the cost of raw materials) - this isn't going to get any cheaper.
Which is why we're so utterly chuffed to have the Scott Speedster S30 FULL SHIMANO ULTEGRA on offer for £899.
To reiterate: that's full Ultegra on a great bike from a highly respected brand for under a grand. Once they're gone they're gone. Just thought you might appreciate the heads up.
