Lezyne is a name that you may, or may not have heard of, yet. Whatever the case, they are certainly a brand to keep an eye on. Every time they get reviewed they usually get a small but very positive mention and an accolade along the lines of ‘editors choice’.
Perhaps that’s
because only people ‘in the trade’ get excited about tools and pumps, but they
are items that all cyclists need.
I’ve been a
long-time fan of Topeak
tools and pumps with the Hexus
being my fave
multi tool for a long time. However mine has seen better days and despite
saying I’d never look anyhere else for a replacement, I’ve just seen the new
offerings from Lezyne and, sorry Topeak, I think I’ve found my new multi tool.
It’s hard to
put your finger on, but there is just something about Lezynes kit. It all
manages to combine a feeling of superb quality with undeniably stylish looks. The CRV 19 tool
has everything you’ll ever realistically need on the road/trail. All the usual
allen keys (2-8mm), t 25 torx bit (disc brake bolts), Phillips and flat blade
screwdrivers, an excellent chain tool, bottle opener, 8 and 10mm spanners and a
tyre lever (of sorts). Where it really stands out (apart from the build quality) is
the small touches like the disc pad spreader for those annoying moments when
‘somebody’ pulls a lever when the wheel is out; and perhaps best of all is the
spoke wrenches. Built neatly into the chain tool body, they are actually usable
for a change, and even include one to fit spline type mavic nipples, tools that
are hard to find/keep hold of at the best of times. This is the
biggest tool they do, but they do a lot more besides including ‘uber’-bling
carbon plate versions. All well worth checking out. Whilst you’re
at it, check out the rest of their wares. What really stood out for me was the And I can’t leave out the alloy
tyre levers. These highly polished little beauties will be the last tyre levers
you’ll ever need (baring theft or loss). Perhaps the
best part of all this quality is the prices. The CRV 19 tool is £32.99, the
Floor Drive pump £54.99 and the tyre levers £9.99. Considering the level of
quality this is pocket money for tools that really should last a lifetime,
should save you time and money on maintainence and perhaps more importantly,
look bling all the way. A neat neoprene cover
finishes it all off and keeps things neat in your pack.
Alloy
Floor Drive track/floor pump. A real work of workshop art in aluminium and
wood, and rated to a more than healthy 220psi!
