F1's new star takes silverware

A star wasn’t born on the weekend (he's 22 years old), but it certainly shone more brightly when Lewis Hamilton finished an amazing 3rd on his Grand Prix debut. A brilliant Saturday of sport was topped on Sunday’s early hours by my favoured Formula 1 team, McLaren finishing 2nd & 3rd in Melbourne.*

Lewis_and_alonso_2 Former world champion Damon Hill said on the BBC “The weight of expectation was massive on Lewis and it seemed to me he didn't really show any sign of weakness at all. He was on it right from the word go. He qualified well, and he raced brilliantly.”

I'm torn this season between wanting Kimi Raikkonen (aka The Mute One) to show just how damned fast he is and that Michael Schumacher’s boots have been well and truly filled - at least on track, if not with team leadership - and praying for some long overdue success for 'my McLaren gang' at Woking. Mind you, when you add Messrs Hamilton & Alonso to the mix, perhaps there's not such a great deal of a contest after all.
*This category might be more accurate if it read 'Other stuff I like' when it comes to F1. Sorry if I'm off-subject but I couldn’t resist.
