Xterra triathlon comes to Neath
Xterra, the international triathlon, MTB enduro and trail run weekend is just around the corner. The weekend is jam packed with 7 races over two days:
Sat 2nd Sept: 75k enduro, 27k enduro, trails half marathon, 10k & 5k run
Sun 3rd Sept: sport triathlon (750m swim, 17k MTB, 5k run) and a championship course triathlon (1400m swim, 32k MTB, 10k run).
The races start on a valley floor and all except the 10k and 5k runs have HUGE climbs to get up the valley sides. The enduro start is expected to take the pros over 30 minutes to get up! Tredz have an expo stand on-site and are the technical race support (spanner boys) for the riders. No, we don't massage legs - so don't ask.
Xtrerra Directions
Their website and flyers aren't very detailed but it really is simple:
- just 12 miles and 2 roundabouts from the M4 junction 43
- head up the A465 from M4 and pass Neath towards Glyn-Neath
- you're looking for Glyn-Neath leisure centre which is left on the second roundabout of the A465 (McDonalds should be in view). View Google map here
- Xterra is in the field on your left, a couple of hundred metres from the roundabout. It's Glyn Neath road (the B4242)
Good luck to all 650+ entrants.
